As a person who has experienced more than enough of culture. This catches my interest the most, its more personal and emotional. I've seen my family living some horrible conditions in the islands of the Philippines and want to help in every way; it seems almost impossible to do so because poverty has hit them the most. In the other hand, some seem to have found a balance and if you travel just a little, families are living completely luxurious lives. its become os obvious to them the values of economic, so obvious that a full filipino like myself can be recognized as a american citizen. my wardrobe was a little overdone because they wear little in the island hear. it was clear to them that i did have money and i was almost a spectacle. now i can see the affects of emissions in this area, only because of the amoutn of people packed into close quarters. you experience how polluted the air is when you take a deep breath and its an aroma that you have never smelt before. sights of people holding cloths up to there to filter what might be hazardous to their health. & its not like they have a choice to live the way they do, its almost like that given area was built to be the way it was. there is no plausible solution to get these people out of the area because some wont leave due to sentimental value and usually don't have the skill set to live in a richer community. the types of vehicles in the area are the cream of the crop for enginuity due to lack of available materials. black clouds puff out of their exhaust and doesnt seem to bother any because of no regulations. corrup government is also the case for all this poverty. & i believe in a well balanced world, its necessary for peopel to live in poverty. for myself, i get motivation to not let my kids exposed to poverty. reason for it is because, they wont be supported with sufficient hunger needs causing malnourishment and grow up to be live short lifes. justice this affair is desribed as the society's obligation to know what is going on. the voice of the people in these poverty areas aren't heard for they aren't important. & i think thats the problem, a person will feel not see the benefits from his life if he decides to help, so he/she moves on.
another likeness to facts in the book is that the relatives that i visited in the philippines living in poverty had numeroous children. this was similar to back then when poor parents wanted more of a money income so they reproduced as much as they could. except in this case they werent going to work at young ages, it was more of a support reserve when the parents became unable.
it's heartaching to see these kids because they have so much potential and all they need is to be given a chance. i had a vision or a apifany if you will, that i would help kids or anybody and change their lifes by my profession. something about seeing a tear of joy coming from a person you just helped is the most satisfying to me.
