SUBURBAN DISTRICT x KROSS INTERVIEW

So recently I had the chance to speak with an upcoming rap group by the name of Suburban District and here is how it went down.

Kross: First of all, Welcome to thecliches. Blog! Wutup?! My Name is Kross. Introduce your selfs to all the readers.

Suburban District: We are Suburban District if you ain't know!

Kross: First question I have for yall is, for the people that don't know, What is Suburban District?

Tim Porter: Suburban District is a hip-hop/pop/electro group and we are the future!

Kross: Who makes up Suburban District?

Octavion Xcellence: "Fair, Octavion Xcellence which is me, and Tim Porter."

Kross: How did yall come up with the name Suburban District?

Fair: We just wanted to do something different. The burbs are basically an untapped market in mainstream hip hop. That's where we are from and we represent. So why not Suburban District?

Kross: Where are yall from?

Fair: "The suburbs of richmond va. Pinpoint Glen Allen & Short Pump!"

Kross: If there is one artist you wanna work with in the future who would it be and why?

Octavion Xcellence: "Personally, i would have to say either Lady GAGA or Santigold. I know you only said one, but hey what the hell. HAHA."



Kross: What kind of struggles have yall faced in the “game” so far?

Tim Porter: Honestly not many as a group because we only been a group for a few months, but individually we all struggle with being respected in a Richmond hip-hop market that's full of crabs in a bucket

Kross: What and who are your musical influences?

Tim Porter: "Anyone with substance, we all listen to different people and these people are not necessarily "hipsters" Me personally my favorite artists are Nas, Ice Cube, Common, Lupe Fiasco and Jay-Z. But there are many others"

Kross: How can you describe your style?

Octavion Xcellence: "A mix of pop, old school hiphop, & eletrco. Yeah thats it, a crazy mix right but hey we are just very random, you never know what you could stumble upon when listening to us."

Kross: What are some of the things you touch up on in your lyrics?

Octavion Xcellence: "Partying, alcohol, heartbreaks, fights. Pretty much the stuff we know about. As well we touch on the certain state of the game and the weak concepts that people speak on."



Kross: What are some of the upcoming projects that you have underway and what should we look out for from Suburban District?

Fair: "For right now the EP which is titled "Don't Mind Us, We're Just the Future, that's dropping in April. We will start recording the album soon. In the meantime look for mixtape material"

Kross: Are you offended or will you embrace that some may label you guys as “hipster” rappers?

Tim Porter: I will be offended because as a solo artist I'm straight hip-hop. Lots of complex rhyme schemes and lyrics about stuff that is really going on in the world. Plus I don't dress like a hipster. I rock Dickies, Air Forces, Timberlands, Jordans and fitted caps. People around me poke at me and say I dress like I'm from the West Coast hahaha.

Kross: What types of goals do you want to accomplish in the “game?”

Tim Porter: "Respect, respect, respect. At the end of the day it's not about money and fame, it's about good music. We're hustlers, we gonna get cake regardless....legally hahaha"


Kross: If you can choose any food to describe your music what would it be and why?

Tim Porter: "Buffalo wings because we are so damn hot, and you fell the hotness hours after you are done eating, we have a lasting effect hahaha"

Kross: Where do you see your selves in 5 years?

Tim Porter: "Very successful and very well respected for our musical capabilities."

Kross: Do you have any message to say to your supporters and/or haters out there?

Tim Porter: Thank ya'll and we love ya'll. The supporters inspire us more than anybody. Hate can't stop us, if it could we would've quit rapping years ago. They inspire us to be better, prove them wrong and shut them up.

Kross:Jessica Alba or Megan Fox?

Octavion Xcellence: "scrambbled with cheese, thank you very much."
